Windmill Church of England Primary School’s vision is rooted in God’s love. Guided by the values of belief, courage, compassion and advocacy, the school encourages every member of its community to develop a love of themselves, a love of others and a love of learning. As one community and one family, pupils are supported to flourish academically, socially, morally and spiritually.
The school is located in Batley, within the local authority area of Kirklees. Windmill was formed in 2014 following the merger of Brownhill Infant School and St Saviour’s Junior School. It serves a diverse community and is closely linked with St Saviour’s Church, Brownhill. The school also has an Additionally Resourced Provision, supporting pupils with additional special educational needs.
Windmill is a welcoming, inclusive and caring school with strong relationships between pupils, staff, families and the wider community. Its Christian vision shapes every aspect of school life and reflects its commitment to celebrating difference, promoting equality and ensuring that every child feels valued for who they are.
The school provides an inspiring, broad and creative curriculum, enriched through visits, visitors, community projects and other first-hand experiences. It is designed to build pupils’ knowledge, confidence, resilience and communication skills, while nurturing a lifelong love of learning. Pupils are encouraged to understand their place in the world and to make a positive difference within their school, local community and beyond.
